Manchester City win 2016 Capital One Cup – Manchester City have won the 2016 Capital One Cup after beating Liverpool on penalties.
Fernandinho had given the Citizens the lead early on but a dramatic equalizer from Phillipe Coutinho in the 83rd minute saw the game go to extra time.
A stalemate in the added time meant the game went to penalties, with Manchester City’s Willy Cabellero the hero of the night as he saved three penalties from Lucas Leiva, Phillipe Coutinho and Adam Lallana.
It is one of 4 trophies City coach Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping he wins as he prepares to leave the club, with Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola set to take over in the summer.
